Bailey & Co. Partner with Jesmond Library

Thursday, March 27, 2014

In 1963 this landmark building opened to serve Jesmond and quickly became a hub of the local community. In 2013, after 50 years of service a decision was taken by the Council to cut the funding and close the library. A group of admirable volunteers refused to allow this hub to be removed from their community and since 2014 have been working free of charge on a voluntary basis to ensure the building is there for generations to come!

More than just lending books, this fantastic building offers ranges of activities for all ages and interests, to include photography workshops to story time for youngsters. These volunteers rely on financial support from the community to continue to maintain this service. As such, Bailey & Co. have made a commitment to the Friends of Jesmond Library to donate a percentage of all of our profits moving forward.

We would strongly urge you too to show your support by becoming an active member, taking part in their activities or becoming a founder member, making a donation yourself. Please go to: for more information or to show your support. — at Jesmond Library.
